Teams in every age group, for boys and girls

A typical handball academy coaches from around U10 upwards, and from the early teens boys and girls usually train as separate teams. Two age groups quickly become four teams, each with its own coach, its own session times and sometimes its own fee.

Each team is a group in AcademyPro, with its coaches and sessions attached, and you see the whole academy on the dashboard. A player who also trains with an older team, or with a squad preparing for a tournament, belongs to both groups, so neither coach has to keep a side list.

Courts indoors, and sand in the summer

Handball is played on a court, and many academies share school halls or sports complexes with other clubs. Some also run beach handball on sand. Add each venue and its courts, including sand courts, then schedule recurring sessions for the season with the coach and court assigned. Clashes are flagged before a session is saved.

When a hall is taken for an event, postpone or cancel the session and every family in that team is told in the app, instead of you messaging each team's group chat in turn.

A contact sport needs an injury record

Handball is physical. Ankles, knees, fingers and shoulders take knocks, and a coach needs to know who is fit before picking a team. In AcademyPro an injury or illness is recorded on the player's profile with its severity, and marked as active, being monitored or recovered.

Coaches can also give a player a rehabilitation programme, or skill and fitness work, which stays on their profile. At registration, your form can ask for health conditions, blood group and emergency contacts, so the details are there before the first session rather than after the first injury.

Tournaments, travel and kit

Most of the money a handball academy handles outside the monthly fee is for tournaments: entry fees, transport and team kit. Create a list of the players going, send them a notice, and raise a one-off invoice to just those players. Parents pay by bank transfer and upload the receipt in the app, and you approve it in a tap.

The monthly fee runs on its own. Set it once for the academy with a sibling discount, override it for a team that trains more often, and give a player their own fee or a full sponsorship where you need to. Unpaid invoices get reminders on the 5th, 7th and 10th.

Handball and football under one roof

Make it a group of its own, with its own coach and session times, and each keeper belongs to both their team and the goalkeeper group. The same works for a strength and conditioning group, or a squad picked for a tournament, without changing anyone's main team.
